Looks like a great representation of the original Simon thruster… modernized, I’m sure. Diggin’ it.

  • I haven’t surfed since October 2nd… but I took the day off and surfed all day. My shoulder has hurt ever since. Definitely over did it.
Looking forward to this weekend for this storm to clean up… it looks to be a pretty epic situation.

    Fix your own dings.
I usually hold onto boards as long as possible, then I take them to the beach and lean them up against the dumpster. Somebody always grabs it.
    But.. fix your own dings.
I build my boards to last, so they don’t ding easily, and resist pressure dings a bit better than most. The thing that usually signals the end of a board for me…[Read more]

  • Yea… got it really good for about 1/2 hour with nobody out, then boom… 9 dudes surrounding me within minutes. Was still fun but did have to let a few go by in the spirit of sharing… which I just love to do. With so many days of waves lately, I’m feeling really good and loose… and was surfing about as good as I can these days in waves about…[Read more]

High tide when I got out of work today… went to see what the water looked like. Zero viz… just thick, green water that tasted like mussel beards.

    …and not the good kind.

Went for a long swim instead.

Ditched work early and got a bunch of fun ones on the fish. First time I’ve ridden anything but a longboard in about a month.

Surfed with the neighbor kid who’s gotten way better over the past few years. Coolest thing about this kid is he’s not a “surfer.” He just loves to surf and doesn’t care about much of anything else in our misguided…[Read more]

If you’re anything like me, even if you end up surfing less you won’t really care much.

Babies have a way of resetting priorities in the most organic way possible. It happens so naturally you might not even notice.

It’s the middle years that hurt. They’re big enough to be ok on their own, but then they need to to drive them places they can’t get…[Read more]

Yea… usually we get at least on little pulse by mid July.

I’m pretty much at the point where I’m passing on most of the “marginally ridable” days. How many knee high waves do you really need?

Still getting in the water daily, though…

It means I’m not working… not caring about anything that’s important… not worried about the past or future. I’m just in my element, and in the moment.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s the only thing that’s real…

    Still no surf in NoMoCo.

Met an old head from back in the day on the beach today… last name Caruso. Legendary stories of Huntington Beach, Malibu, and Sandy Hook. If you read this… you’re the reason why surfing is different from every other “sport”… it’s the People… and the History… and the Stories… and the attitude and spirit of…[Read more]
